Come warm up with hot glass in February & March! In the six week introductory glassblowing course Molten Glass as Material, students will gather molten glass from the furnace at 2150 °, add color, inflate and shape the glass into paperweights, sculptures, ornaments, cups, and other blown glass vessels. For those interested in making smaller scale glass sculptures, beads, pendants, and marbles we have a Sculptural Flameworking course where students will learn to specific heat glass rods in the flame of a torch to shape the glass into their desired form. All skill levels welcome in all of these classes. Gift certificates available!
Click on the link for each class to learn more and to register. See you in the studio!
In this introductory level course, students will learn the ancient process of lost wax glass casting. Instructor Michelle Jones- Lillie will teach students the process of creating a solid glass sculpture that mimics the form of an object made of some other material. Objects like baby shoes, toy cars, highly textured bark or smooth rocks are all good objects to be cast in glass. If it can fit inside a 3" x 3" cube, it is probably a good choice for this project. The finished piece will be a translucent 'ghost' of the original object. In this eight session course, students will learn how to make a flexible mold, a rigid mold, how to fire the mold in a kiln, and how to cut, grind, and polish their finished glass sculpture. Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. for eight weeks from March 6- May 1 (no class on April 17). All skill levels welcome! Click here for more info and to register.

Celebrate the heat in your heart in the warmth of the glassblowing studio as you work with 2150° molten glass to make a heart-shaped paperweight!
